There’s nothing like that first cup of coffee

At Ty’n Rhos, we feel it is our mission to be the best restaurant and country house hotel in Snowdonia, and that means serving the best food and drink we can get!
We’ve spent a great deal of time upping our game on so many levels, from locally sourced biscuits to some of the world’s best cured ham.
But… let me be honest with you for a moment.
Our coffee? Not amazing. Don’t get me wrong. The coffee was good. No one hated it. But it was not great. That had to change.
We’ve spent the last few years becoming far more aware of where our products come from, and we’ve been focusing on buying local everywhere we can. We’re not just jumping on the ‘buy local’ bandwagon, choosing locality over quality to make a point. Quality and taste will always be the driving factor in what we offer at our country house.
Now, of course, you can’t grow coffee in Wales but it turns out Wales does have some of the UK’s best coffee roasters.
So, we tried coffee from roasteries all over the UK. So much coffee we barely slept. But we did have some fun! Have you ever had a coffee that tasted of strawberry ice cream and fudge? We have. It actually wasn’t bad. But wasn’t Ty’n Rhos.
In the end, there was just one unanimous winner for all of us, and unbelievably the roastery was located just 20 miles away! Heartland Coffee Roasters is a very small, artisan operation with a team who are truly passionate about their craft.
We tried several Heartland roasts, and agreed that the co-operative Guatemalan roast was just right. So that’s what we will be serving! From your first cup in the morning to the last one before bed. Finally, the coffee at Ty’n Rhos isn’t letting the rest of the work we do here down!
If you’re in the area, we encourage you to visit Heartland Roasters. Try their range, and find your own favorite. They have a coffee bar right alongside their roastery where you can sit and drink while watching them roast – it’s fascinating.
But… Perhaps your first cup of coffee should be with us!
