Railways

All railway attractions are popular, therefore we recommend booking any of these in advance of your stay. All railways are seasonal usually April until October – depending on weather. We always advise you check direct on company website beforehand.
For those who want more railways!..a little further afield there is the Barmouth Steam Railway, Bala Lake Railway or Talyllyn Railway (all steam railways and all approx. 1-1 ½ hour drive away)
Welsh Highland Railway (10 minute’s drive)
Operates between Caernarfon and Porthmadog with a 25 mile scenic journey on a steam train. The Welsh Highland Railway climbs from sea level to 650ft zig-zagging though the National Park, visiting beddgelert and the magnificent aberglaslyn pass.
Usually leaves Caernarfon at 10am daily.
Ffestiniog Railway (30-40 minute drive)
Operating between Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog, a 14 mile narrow gauge journey through the Vale of Ffestiniog.
Great Orme Tramway (20-25 minute drive)
The only cable-hauled tramway still operating on British public roads. There are constraints for visitors with disabilities due to the Victorian design.
Well behaved dogs on leads welcome.

Llanberis Lake Railway (15 minute drive)
A five mile narrow gauge steam railway taking around 1 hour to get around the lake. Wheel chair accessibility available.
